Weekly Cleaning Tasks {and some weekly cleaning checklists}

{Preschooler Chore Chart}

Turns out chore charts aren't just for kids; they're pretty handy for this "big kid" too. I used to keep to a pretty regular cleaning routine and our house remained mostly presentable. Then, we had another baby. And we moved to a smaller home. And somehow, I can't manage to get much more done than dishes, laundry and the occasional vacuuming. So, it's time to return to the trusty ol' weekly/daily cleaning checklist.

Here's the deal: I have two ideas for a daily cleaning schedule. 1) Cleaning by room and 2) cleaning by tasks. I listed them out to see what each day would look like and decided I'm going to try the tasks-by-room method this week and the cleaning-by-tasks method next, then decide which seems to work better for me in a couple weeks. The main criteria is that each day's tasks can be completed in 20 minutes (separate from the 20 minutes we'll spend as a family cleaning each evening).

Cleaning Checklists

While I'm figuring that out, Pinterest also helped me find a few weekly cleaning print-outs. And they're pretty, too :)

  1. I was just thinking that I needed to have something like this again to keep me on schedule! I'll have to look at each of the resources and decide which one to use (and then actually use it!) Thanks for sharing!

  2. Great! Let me know if you come up with something that works really well. So far I'm liking focusing on one room each day.
